GlobeMed’s beads committee sells jewelery and purses crafted by the women of Gulu, Uganda. All the proceeds go directly to them so that GWED-G can function properly and provide its women with the services and resources they need. Last week, the beads committee set up shop on the Lerner ramp for the Delta GDP Fair Trade Fair. The fair partnered with Handcrafting Justice and Ubomi beads, in addition to GlobeMed. We drew a lot of attention, selling beaded necklaces and fabric and beaded purses. The fair lasted for three days, and each day more and more people came over to the table to express their support and buy some beads for themselves or their loved ones for the upcoming holiday season. The beads committee expects to sell at many more venues in future, but we would say that, all in all, this sale was a tremendous success!
