2012 GlobeMed Global Health Summit – “Walking Together, Walking Far”

GlobeMed’s annual Global Health Summit starts today! Hosted by Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, the Summit provides an opportunity for GlobeMed chapters across the country to connect and share their various ideas and opinions. This year the Summit’s theme is “Walking Together, Walking Far: Partnership as a Framework for Meaningful Action.” Our chapter is particularly excited for our partner organization GWED-G’s executive director Pamela Angwech presence at the Summit this year. She and EngenderHealth’s CEO Pamela Barnes will be delivering the Honorary Keynote address tomorrow evening. Tonight we will be hearing from Melissa Covelli, the Senior Program Officer of the Polio Strategy in Global Health for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Other exciting events include a globalhealthU Track 3 presentation by 10 different GlobeMed chapters, multiple Small Group workshops, and numerous discussion groups with representatives from 15 different organizations. In addition, Gary Slutkin, Executive Director of Ceasefire, will be giving a keynote address on Saturday. We’ll be updating both Facebook and Twitter regularly with quotes, photos, and more as the weekend progresses. Updates on all Summit activities can be found at the GlobeMed Facebook page.
